I Get Liberals Now
I was watching the first episodes of season three of the Sci Fi Channel’s new version of Battlestar Galactica, and it made me think. In these episodes the last remnants of humanity have been enslaved by the cylons, and in their desperation they begin what they call an “insurgency” against their cylon slave masters. They begin blowing themselves up among the human police the cylons are recruiting with bombs they have strapped on themselves. See the parallels? If the message isn’t clear enough, the arabic music they keep playing in the background when they show the humans being abused by the cylons should make their point clear.
It made me think. I loved the first Battlestar Galactica, and I really like the remake, too. But it is obvious that the people who remade it were very opinionated because they let their politically correct biases slip in everywhere. I tried to overlook it so I could enjoy the show. They replaced the main character, Starbuck, with a woman. They changed Baltazar from a traitorous coward and appeaser to a confused womanizer, etc. And it dawned on me that the makers of this new series are letting their biases in again and expressing why they think the muslims blow themselves up – desperation. These liberals think the muslims feel opressed and abused, and desperate, and this is why they kill in the ways that they do.
It also dawned on me that the liberals who think this way must have no idea of the power of faith. That concept must be completely alien to them. It must be something they cannot understand, or the real causes of our war would be clear to them. It also dawned on me that I could describe it and talk about it until I am blue in the face, but someone who has never felt real devotion, never felt real faith, they will never understand that concept or the power it has. They can’t understand that kind of faith because they have never experienced it or seen it up close.
That is why they will never understand this war. The countless examples of people who were not desperate, who did not live in squalor or oppresion, those examples go right by them because they do not understand them. People tend to miss what they do not understand. Those guys in New Jersey, the ones who planned to go shooting into military bases until they got shot back, who planned to kill as many as they could until they got killed, they weren’t desperate. They grew up Americans, in America. No opression or squalor. Yet they still wanted to go out in a bang. And it wasn’t because of desperation! It was to impress God, and to impress all their fellow muslims and to show them how faithful they were. It was because of their strong faith.
Liberals just can’t seem to get that.
I can list example after example of these cases. The 9-11 highjackers had college degrees. They weren’t living in squalor or desperation. Hell, they were living it up at a strip club the night before they killed thousands of our people. No desperation there, but there was a need to impress God and their fellow people with their show of faith. Same over and over again.
You can’t describe the color yellow to someone who has not seen the color yellow. You can’t describe religious faith to some liberals, because they never have experienced it and have not been close to it. But the horror of what the muslims do still shocks them, so they try to explain it in a way they can understand. And they have spent the last five or more decades making money and gaining followers by preaching victimization, so this is a concept they understand. It is a thing they have spent time studying, and fighting – I have to give them that. So they take what is familiar to them and assume terrorism springs from that. They are completely blind to the faith aspect of the picture.
All of this leads me to one conclusion. Just like when it was founded, the fate of our country, the fate of our nation, depends on how many of us have actually experienced faith, and how many of us can understand it. If more of us understand it than can’t, then the majority of us will understand the cause of this war, and we will win it. If more of us are blind to the power of faith, however, then our nation is doomed, because will not understand the causes of this war and we will never be able to stop terrorism. We will never be able to point the fire extinguisher at the base of the blame to put the fire out. We will just keep pointing it at the tips of the flames. And they will win.
I’m not saying you have to be religious to understand. You just have to understand faith.
