Learning Rate
Americans have short attention spans, and they seem to think knowing about history and geography is “uncool.” We assume that our enemies have short attention spans, too, like we do. That is our vital flaw, and they know it.
It has happened over and over again. We get hit, we fight back for a while, then we loose interest and let them go. We assume that since they didn’t hit us for a while they will stop. But they don’t. They hit us back as soon as we stop attacking them. And each time they hit us back it gets bigger and bigger. Now, we’re getting tired of Iraq, and just want to get out and give up. And we must assume, as a nation, that we have worn them down and they won’t attack us again. We are stupid, to put it bluntly. Why must we keep learning the hard way? Why can’t we just see something through to the end for a change, and finish this for once and for all?
I guess we won’t learn that until after we pull out of Iraq, ignore Iran, and get nuked.
Like I said, we, collectively, as a nation, seem to be very slow learners. And don’t blame it on the poiliticians, because we put them there and we can take them out and replace them. This is our battle, and if we don’t accept that responsibility we will never win it.
